Gallop on!

So humble was his stance
and
So dire his need for bread
that
She let the fellow in
on her carpet, let him tread

So youthful were his limbs
and
His body; so able,
She tested his skills as a house help and
as a help at the stable.

Swiftness and precision
in all his given tasks,
The lost traveler was adept
at doing anything that was asked.

One day, the young maiden
 who had begun to trust the lad,
asked him to find a suitor
who was worthy of her hand.

The fellow then realized
how besotted he had gotten
by the girl's looks and grace,
All else lay forgotten.

He promptly knelt
and grabbed her hand,
earnest as ever;
Professed his love for her
his solemn voice a quiver.

She considered him for a moment
and took back her hand
his face fell as she sternly
asked him to stand

Then in one swift motion;
a smile on her face,
she placed her hands on his shoulders;
and his
on her waist

Great promise and security
she was certain she would find
if she married this man
who she found was one of a kind

So she told him
she would love to
and
that she had no grouse
and that they must;
to his delight;
at once exchange vows

(and then they lived at the royal racecourse)
